RE: Precursor Awards (2020-2021)
Very disappointed with the Viola and, especially, Chicago 7 wins. Not surprised by the latter, though, because it's such a Sorkin jerkoff session that appeals to too many actors, but it's disturbing that the winning ensemble has exactly zero women in it.
However, THRILLED for Youn, happy for Kaluuya, fine with Chadwick (I've accepted it and will pretend he's winning for Black Panther). The win I most wanted (give or take Youn and Carey Mulligan) was the ensemble win for Schitt's Creek (and I was also rooting for The Crown, which I just binged and found really good and terrifically acted), so I'm a mostly happy camper. |

I'm not surprised by the Davis win at all. SAG loves her.

RE: Precursor Awards (2020-2021)
I had forgotten that Davis also has support from the TV side because of "How to Get Away with Murder," but it was still surprising to me. Her reaction is exactly how I feel about predicting that category this year. LOL!
Also, I still think Chicago 7 can win BP, and that worries me. I think I am going to predict... Nomadland Zhao Boseman McDormand Kaluuya Close Nomadland Promising Young Woman |

Yeah Davis has 5 individual SAG wins and 6 overall. Her 5 individual wins compare to 1 Oscar and 1 Emmy, though she could get a second Oscar.

RE: Precursor Awards (2020-2021)
Youn just won Oscar, though I do think there is still a chance that Close can win. Kaluuya will easily win, and though Hopkins is definitely Boseman's biggest competition, i still think Boseman is way out in front. "Nomadland" takes the three biggies.
Globe - Day BFCA - Mulligan SAG - Davis BAFTA - McDormand McDormand is winning Oscar #3, I think. It is not unparalleled and will be like when Day-Lewis won for TWBB and Lincoln, though the time stamp will be shorter on this one. SO HAPPY for Zhao and Marder at DGA!! |
